Many dosen’t know more about God that is why they end up asking this question, is God and Jesus the same person? The direct answer to the question is No.
Below are the Bible verses which prove that God and Jesus Christ are not the same. Let first of all discuss about God.

He is not an object somewhere in the universe, for he is the Creator of all things.He is a spirit and no heavenly and earthly human or thing that is like him.
According to what we have in the Bible account of Acts 17: 24-28 (KJV), It clearly let us know that God is the greatest of all, read
“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Having known all this about God why do we said that God and Jesus are not the same person?

Who is Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God. Yes truly he is the son of God. Remember while Jesus was on earth, he was baptized by John.
A voice came out from heaven when He baptized saying this is my Beloved son.
Read Matthew 3:17 (KJV), “And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
If God and Jesus are the same, Do you think God would have make this statement “This is My beloved Son“?
Have you also seen as soon being the same with the father?
Yes Jesus declared that God is his father in several occasions, to mention few let see the one we have in the bible account of John 14:6 (KJV),
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.“
Another bible verse which still let us know that they are not the same is when Jesus disciples ask him when is the date for the last day.
Jesus clearly answer that Only his father knows the date, read Matthew 24:36 (KJV),
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.“
