Why does God not answer all prayers?
God knows the perfect way to respond to your prayers.
God will answer your prayers, but He will not simply give you whatever you ask for because He knows what is best for you.
He will respond to your prayers in His own unique way. Strive to ask for things that are in accordance with God’s will.
While Jesus Christ was on earth, He taught his disciples how to pray. The bible account of Matthew 7:7 (KJV) “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
Does it mean that if we ask, seek and knock God will gives us what we want? No. There is a way of life we need to live so God will answer our prayers.
Let consider the bible account of Proverbs 15:29 (KJV), “The LORD is far from the wicked: But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”
Proverbs 15:29 figure out two main point, Wicked and Righteous. God doesn’t answer any individual prayer that live a wicked life but only the righteous ones.
Faith in Christ Jesus is the only way for sinners to be righteous before God. God credits us with righteousness when we believe the Word of God, which tells us that Christ fulfilled all righteousness for us and then was sacrificed for us to make full atonement for all our sins.
What to do when prayers are not answered
Prayer should be in line with the word of God. Therefore, faith in His word is a guarantee for answer to prayer. Remember, it says you must believe that you receive when you pray. God isn’t asking you to believe something that isn’t true.
There are things to do when your prayer is seems not answered, they are;
- Stay away from evil and ungodly behavior.
- Trust and obey.
- Exercise patience.
- Pray to the Glory of God.
- Request forgiveness for your sins.
- Develop faith.
- Keep God’s promise.
- Be submissive when praying.
- Pour out your mind to God.
- Stay in a calm area when praying.
- Stay away from evil and ungodly behavior
Good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be avoided. If you want God to answer you prayer you must avoid evil doings. There are many bible verses which confirmed that God hate evil peoples.
First le consider the Bible account of Proverbs 4:15 (KJV), ” Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.”
It in that Bible verse is evil, the Bible account emphasis that we should avoid evil. As a true Christian you must avoid evil so God will answer your prayer.
Let also consider the Bible account of Proverbs 8:13 (KJV), “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate.”
This Bible verse also let us know why we should hate evil, it is shown that when we hate evil we have the fear of God. This two Bible verse help us understand why we should stay away from evil and ungodly act.
- Trust and obey God
Trusting and obeying entails both God’s sovereign work in us as well as our own responsibility and choice. Only when we trust God will we be able to desire and obey Him.
Obedience is inextricably linked with abiding in Christ and the fruit-bearing image Jesus gave His disciples. Let see what the Bible account of;
John 15:5 (KJV), “ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Also the Bible account of; John 15:8 (KJV), “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
In the long run, obedience is always worthwhile. I’ve never regretted performing an act of obedience. I’ve resisted, but I’ve never regretted following orders.
I have enough experience to know that I have never thrived in disobedience. It’s amazing how often I disregard this lesson! We humans are slow to learn. This is well illustrated by the history of the Israelites.
- Exercise patience
When something takes a long time or someone does not do what you want them to do, patience allows you to remain calm and not become irritated.
Because patience is a virtue, patience with God necessitates faith, and to exercise faith is to relinquish ultimate control of one’s life.
Let see what the Bible account of Galatians 5:22-5:23 (KJV), “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Paul listed the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-5:23, so there’s no disputing that the Christian ought to be patient.
- Pray to the Glory of God
First, ask God to reveal His glory to you and in you. You can see and experience God’s glory, but you must ask and seek it earnestly.
When you pray, don’t fail to focus on the glory of God. Don’t pray for things that do not correspond with his will. Pray because it brings God glory.
God is praised when his children joyfully obey him and when he assists them in their times of need. Let consider the Bible accounts of;
John 17:5 (KJV), ” And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
Acts 7:55 (KJV), ” But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,”
We need to see and worship God in His glory and splendor, we should also know that God’s glory and splendor are fantastic topics to contemplate and pray about.
- Request forgiveness for your sins
Ask for your forgiveness, and trust in your everlasting grace to redeem you and guide you in the right way.
When seeking restoration and healing, prayer is the first place to start, whether we are seeking forgiveness for our own sins or asking God to help us forgive others.
Let consider the Bible account of 1 John 1:9 (KJV) about this, ” If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
God’s way of curing sin among believers in our day is as we have seen in 1 John 1:9. Therefore it is good to confess our sin when praying to God because He will forgive us if we pray to him wholeheartedly.
- Develop faith
The best way to start having developing uncommon faith is to Look away from everything that will distract you and focus on Jesus.
There are 6 different ways we can develop our faith.

- Keep God’s promise
Scripture promises many blessings if we keep—that is, observe, remember, and apply—Jesus Christ’s commands. God will bless and adore us.
Let see what the Bible account of John 14:21 (KJV)says, ” He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”
God will dwell with us if we keep to our promises. The Bible account of John 14:23 (KJV) explain well, let read;
” Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
If we love God, He will dwell with us through the Holy Spirit. He will also make our relationship with him new and glorious.
- Be submissive when praying
Being submissive demonstrates to God that He can not only trust, but also use you. Submission is an act of submission. We frequently promise the Lord that we will follow Him.
When submission is truly established in the heart, only then will a Christian be known as a humble person. Let consider the Bible account of;
Philippians 2:5-8 (KJV), “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Pray fervently that God will develop a heart of submission in you. If you go through all the motions of helping him, holding your tongue and continue praying He will definitely help you at last.
- Pour out your mind to God
Going deeper with God begins with pouring out your heart to Him and telling Him how you truly feel. Effective prayer is born from the heart, not the head.
The Bible never once instructs us to pray with our minds. It says we should pray from the bottom of our hearts. Let consider the Bible account of:
Psalm 62:8 (KJV), ” Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”
Pour out your emotions to Him and He will pour His healing truth into you.
- Stay in a calm area when praying
Remember that Jesus Christ use to go to a calm and lonely area to pray to God. This always help him to pour out his mind to the Father when praying.
Likewise us, we need to pray to God in a calm area. You might say there is no calm area in my country or my state. There is. Here are the time you can have a calm prayers in a busy environment:
